Bonjour amis cyclistes,
Prochain trip : fin mai début juin en Espagne soit en Castilla La Mancha soit la Via de la Plata.
L'an dernier j"ai roulé sur le Camino del Cid entre Vivar del Cid et Valencia. Si vous avez des tricks je suis preneur.
We’re cycling light in road bikes from treviso to trieste via Pordenone, Udine, tomlin, gorizia! Have had zero luck with hosts here in the region… airbnb it’s been :(((
Trying to stay warm! :o
I'm flying to San Francisco next week (December 13th 2023) to start an adventure heading south. A few life things got in the way of starting this tour earlier in the year, but i'm sure, even though it will be a tad cooler, that i'll have a great time and i'm excited to get going. Just working out last few details of how to get to downtown from the airport and sorting out where to stay for 1st couple of days before hitting the PCH. I'd love to hear from any Californians with local knowledge as qwell as any cycle tourers heading the same way. Best wishes, Simon
Hey! We are 2+2 family (check us on Instagram @rowerodzinka) and next summer we will start our life-distance way across Europe. We want to spend a year in travel... and now we are thinking about the place where we could pass the winter-time. Mabey you have some ideas? Which country is the best to stay and have a break in cold season? Our plan is to start in Poland, then - go to Germany, France, Spain... and after winter, take a ferryboat(?) for Italy and then ride in Balkans and after that go "home". It could be nice to share our experiences and also hear your story from bike-trips. We are looking for good advices, nice peoples who can support us in realisation our dream. If you want contact us!
I am preparing for a trip from Nador to Tanger (Maroc) then taking the ferry to Tarifa. From Tarifa via Gibraltar along the east coast of Spain (Malaga, Almeria, Cartagena, Denia) to the Balearic Islands (Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca), back to the mainland and from there to Barcelona. Break of about 5 days in Barcelona, then to Andorra and via Livia to Perpignan. From Perpignan along the French coast via Narbonne, Sète, Camargue to Marseille.
Departure from Nador on 10th of March, arrival in Marseille 21nd of June. Accommodation: WS, Couchsurfing, pensions, B&B etc.
Any advices on roads, weather, nice places to see or bad places to avoid are welcome. I never before have been in Maroc and Spain.
Know French quite well, of course English, and also some Spanish (learning).
Sounds like a great plan! I only toured the Spanish and French Catalan coast last winter (mostly along EV8) and I loved it. The only thing I wish I had checked before was the weather (namely, the strong seasonal wind, Mistral). In some coastal parts of Languedoc just staying vertical needed a lot of effort! I even found a sculpture on one roundabout, dedicated to winds, so I guess they're an element of the landscape.
The people were great all the way, and the only regrettable place I stayed at was the "Bed in Girona" hostel - but just because of loud, very drunk and smelly roommates, the staff were ok.
(*I'm not a local, so perhaps someone from there will correct my mistakes, if any)
I know nothing about Morocco, but I wish you good luck on your trip!
Pozdrowienia z Podlasia!
ENG: Hello Stanisław! Would you share your experiences from the winter tour around France/Spain - we wrote above about our plans for a year-long bicycle trip with our family. We are planning to spend the winter in Spain - your experiences will be useful! How long did your trip last? Did you sleep in a tent or only in accommodation? I already know about the strong wind - what about the temperature? I will be pleased if you reply here or in a private message. Greetings from Podlasie!
Cairo and Alex
